No-Gi Jiu Jitsu
ABQ Kickboxing-Luttrell/Yee MMA has Jiu Jitsu for students of all levels, interests and abilities in our programs. We pride ourselves on our teaching abilities and the detailed curriculum that helps make sense of the art as our students’ progress. Our Jiu Jitsu instructing staff features of course Jackson’s Gaido Jujitsu Black Belt Chris Luttell (Greg Jackson’s 1st Black Belt and instrumental in the creation of the now famous 4 Luttrell/Yee MMA black belts, 1 RCJ Machado/Corkran black belt, 3 Luttrell/Yee MMA Brown belts, 12 Luttrell/Yee MMA purple belts
Unlike western wrestling where the objective is to “pin” your opponent or gain points, the goal to BJJ is to gain positional advantage and apply a joint lock or choke and force your opponent into submission. BJJ endorses the concept that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and good technique can defend themselves on the ground against a larger, stronger opponent.
Learning the self-defense aspects of Jiujutsu is an absolute necessity but most people stick with it because it is just plain fun! Rather than striking and hurting an opponent the goal to Jiujutsu is to gain positional advantage and apply a joint lock or choke and force your opponent into submission.
BENEFITS OF JIU JITSU:
• Learn to defend yourself on the ground as well as in close range
• Train in a “must-know” style for self defense, law enforcement defensive tactics, military combatives or grappling and/or mma competitions
• Get in shape and participate in a life-long activity that everyone from children to senior citizens can do
• Master chokes, armlocks, and other submission holds that allow you to end a confrontation with no punches or kicks necessary
Authentic Muay Thai Training
Since 2002 ABQ Kickboxing-Luttrell/Yee MMA has been the best source for authentic Muay Thai training in the Albuquerque area. The national sport of Thailand, the kickboxing art of Muay Thai, will greatly enhance any martial artist’s capabilities. Thai boxers have been called “Kings of the Ring” and may strike any part of the body with kicks, knees, punches and elbows. At ABQ Kickboxing-Luttrell/Yee MMA, we train in Thai boxing for three main reasons: to learn the art, to acquire its legendary conditioning, and to ingrain its superior defensive structure and offensive output. Care is taken to teach students proper form and body mechanics to eliminate injuries while training and gain maximum effectiveness.
At ABQ Kickboxing-Luttrell/Yee MMA you can pick the classes you are interested in. With the popularity of mixed martial arts and MMA training we’ve seen an explosion of interest in qualified instruction of Muay Thai / Thai Boxing.
Our gym has produced more instructors/khrus than any other gym outside of Santa Fe, NM and currently has 3 Associate Level Instructors (Khun Khrus or Khrus) in this most prestigious Muay Thai association in the world.
